The second half of this verse is found elsewhere in the Bible (John 1:27, Matthew 3:11, Luke 3:16) and is quoted by John the Baptist. Because of the variations between the statements in Matthew, Luke, and John it seems that all four versions quote from the same original source but none of them quote it verbatim.Quantumleap42http://www.blogger.com/profile/16711817313734546305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-66270844770421153.post-7890628592915342422014-09-14T22:22:00.001-04:002017-02-26T19:37:08.904-05:00Comparison of 1 Nephi 17:36 and Isaiah 45:18

Victor L. For this one I will not mark all the similarities. These five verses in Mosiah all draw on the same verse in Isaiah and vary the wording of different passages to make a point. The verses in Mosiah are better understood if they are read in context. They are in response to a previous quote of the same verse in Isaiah.

For example if I want to link directly to the side by side comparison of 2 Nephi 24 and Isaiah 14 then I would use the URL:

http://isaiahbom.blogspot.com/2013/05/2-Nephi-24-Isaiah-14.html

But if I wanted to link to verse two specifically, i.e. 2 Nephi 24:2 and Isaiah 14:2, then I would add #2 to the end of the URL like so:

http://isaiahbom.blogspot.com/2013/05/2-Nephi-24-Isaiah-14.html#2

Also if you click on the numbering for each verse then it will take you to that verse and the address for that verse will be in the address bar of your browser. If there is a difference in the verse number between the Book of Mormon and the Bible then only the Book of Mormon verses are linked.Quantumleap42http://www.blogger.com/profile/16711817313734546305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-66270844770421153.post-70527870812552265792013-11-13T16:04:00.000-05:002014-01-15T15:29:36.778-05:00Comparison of 2 Nephi 28:7-8 and Isaiah 22:13

This is another case of a single phrase from Isaiah being used in a longer discourse. It is worthwhile to consider Isaiah 22:13 in context and see how the intent and meaning of the phrase is used correctly in the discourse found in 2 Nephi 28.
Quantumleap42http://www.blogger.com/profile/16711817313734546305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-66270844770421153.post-6900160099501490762013-10-29T17:12:00.003-04:002014-01-15T15:28:43.094-05:00Comparison of 2 Nephi 25:17, 2 Nephi 29:1, and Isaiah 11:11

These two verses in the Book of Mormon both paraphrase the phrase "the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people" from Isaiah 11:11. In each there are slight variations due to context ("I" instead of "the Lord") and who is speaking. Also note that 2 Nephi 25:17 uses "restore" but 2 Nephi 29:1 uses "recover" just like Isaiah 11:11. Neither one refers to "the remnant of his people", but only refers to "his/my people".Quantumleap42http://www.blogger.com/profile/16711817313734546305noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-66270844770421153.post-85832324234318875832013-10-27T23:53:00.001-04:002014-01-15T15:27:25.306-05:00Comparison of 2 Nephi 30:11-15 and Isaiah 11:5-9
